The media is never right, this is sudan, every time i google image “sudan” i get pictures of the violence that happened in parts of sudan, so i decided to show people there are other sides of sudan that are very beautiful and rich
Race -ready, set, go, thats what comes to the mind of a child when the word is said
Race-Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern, Native American, thats what comes to the mind of adults, youth and elders when the word is said
wouldn’t it be wonderful to live in the world where everyone was color blind
where color didn’t matter
matter to us, to you, or to anyone
anyone or no one be judged upon it
maybe I’m dreaming to big?
but dreams turn to reality
and our reality is near
so near, i can almost see it
see it being possible that no man on this earth
shall be judged based on color
a color he didn’t pick and had a choice on
but yet be judged and pre-judged upon it
am I the only one who sees this flaw?
a flaw so big it can destroy
destroy a whole generation, our generation?
a generation with potential
potential to be great
lets not pretend and ignore
ignore something that effects everyone
everyone no matter who you are
Hispanic, Caucasian, Middle Eastern, Black
being told at the age of 5, no one wants to play with you because your “too dark”
words that forever scare me
being told by people from your own african country
that you are a couple shades too dark?
what have we come to?
Confused- an eight letter word
a word with great meaning
meaning I’m unable to focus nor think straight
straight, left, right, up, down, what to do?
do whatever it takes to untangle
untangle this “web” of confusion my mind has created
created in order to answer my questions, who, what, where, when, why?
Isn’t it sad that its 2011 and we still have people dying because of famine (A famine is a wide spread sacristy of food , accompanied or followed by regional malnutrition., starvation epidemic and increased mortality). Earlier this week the United Nations stated that the famine in Somalia was a result of visible lack of rain over the last few years, keyword VISIBLE, clearly this was a problem waiting to happen and the signs of it where visible to the United Nations , which I must remind you has member countries that are capable of great technological abilities. Recent United Nations actions as well as their lack of help to less fortunate countries leaves me wondering is the U.N really just another organization that’s money hungry only meeting the needs and demands of western countries. According to UNICEF more than 10 million people across the horn of African including 3.7 million in Somalia have been in dire need of humanitarian assistance due to armed conflicts drought and escalading food prices. My question is why did the U.N wait this long to help out, why didn’t they set up a solution or plan incase of an extreme drought, the answer to that is the U.N. isn’t as humanitarian oriented as they seem, it’s a money hungry organization looking to feed their desire, needs and goals of the 5 major powers. Growing up I saw the U.N as the ultimate heroic organization serving people and 3rd world countries and those who are less fortunate . My interest in the U.N grew and I soon wanted to work there and saw it as my “dream” job , but with that interest slowly came the realization of the U.N.’s true colors, and well the more I read about the U.N. the more disappointed I got, it just goes to show that no one these days will do good to those in need without wanting to get recognized or publicly praised, or for that fact wont help out if their personal interests aren’t met
It sad how no one will help out just for the pure personal satisfaction of doing the right thing
